Initiation to save Rhino

One horn rhino of CNP


In a bid to conserve rare rhino, women in Agheuli VDC of Nawalparasi have been proactive in formulations of local-level policies and patrolling.
They have formulated a rule to esquire anyone including those entering the village without showing  identity, on suspect of rhino poaching.
Women have also started day-to-day patrolling in the village and forest entry points for the  protection of rhinos in Gundred Community Forest under the Amaltari Mid-zone Forest Users  Committee.

Migratory birds return to Jagadishpur Wetland

Birds migrating away during the summer have returned to the Jagadishpur Lake of Kapilbastu district, which is listed in the world heritage list of wetlands.

Birds which took flight elsewhere during summer season, return to this wetland in the month of September-October, said Chairman of the Dynamic Lake Protection Committee, Sundar Pandey.

Three people killed by Wild Elephant

A wild elephant rampaged through a village of Jhapa district in southeastern Nepal trampling three people to death.

Village of Eastern Nepal

According to the local police, the elephant first attacked a 57-year-old man in his house who died on the spot. Then, a 70-year-old woman working on a tea garden was killed. An 80-year-old woman died in hospital.
Police chased the elephant away following the attack in Prithvinagar, a village on the border with India.
