The international conference of Himalayan and Mountainous country will held inNepalon April. The information is provided by Ministry of Environment on a press conference organized by NEFEJ.
The conference will mainly focus to formulate strategy on climate change and its effects. According to Krishna Gnawali, secretary of Ministry of Environment, the participants will be ministers related to environment of mountainous countries, exterts related to climate change field and interrelated stakeholders of different sectors.
The concept of ´Himalayan Seed Bank´ has initiated by Ministry of Science and Technology for the conservation of the rare and near-extinct plants.
Minister for Science and Technology Kalpana Dhamala said the government has started the preservation campaign as the rare species of plants are on the verge of extinction on the press meet held at the ministry premises.
The wild elephant attack three people from a single family in Lakahanpur VDC in Jhapa of eastern Nepal. Before this, three people were killed in an attack by wild elephants at Prithvinagar VDC in the district three days back.
The injured are 42-year-old Bel Bahadur Katuwal, his wife Kalpana of 38 and their son Yadu of 11. According to the locals, wild elephants numbering two to three entered the village by crossing the border with India on Saturday night went on a rampage and attacked the Katuwal family.
National Planning Commission (NPC) and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) jointly organized a “Consultative Workshop on a Review of National Conservation Strategy of Nepal” to review the National Conservation Strategy (NCS). The workshop is also held to discuss about policy in the light of the changed national and international contexts.
